There are a number of different nail applications you can learn and the more varied your skill set is, the more appealing you will be to nail salon employers and customers alike. Every year, hundreds of people achieve nail qualifications due to the growing demand for this service. It’s also a flexible industry to work in with the ability to work for a salon, set up your own business or a combination of both. Here at HD Academy, we offer a number of nail courses for beginners and well-established beauticians who may be looking to learn a new treatment. Our nail courses include;-

Nail Courses

As a beginner, it’s preferable to get started on shorter courses that target specific nail treatments. There is a choice of gel extensions, acrylic extensions, fibre/silk repair, gel polish and manicure/pedicure courses. Choosing any of the above will give you an excellent foundation and a base skillset to build on and transfer if you progress onto other treatments. Most beginners often start with a beginner acrylic course – taught by our professionals – and this provides immediate access to the basic nail care skills needed to progress.

Once you have completed one or multiple short courses and feel confident in these areas, you can progress onto a different type of nail applications that requires slightly more expertise and practice. Two of the most common are our advanced: gel and acrylic nails courses and each vary in price so again by gaining application skills with gel nails, you are further widening your skillset with your service offerings and increasing your chances of making a successful career out of nail application and beauty care.

As you progress, it will become clear there are many nail products on the market that you can offer to your clients. Always make sure you are using recommended and highly rated products to ensure the overall service you provide is the best it can be.

Fiberglass and silk nails are an additional skill you can learn.  Although not as popular as gel and acrylic nails, being able to apply this sort of nail is a good complementary skill to have.

Obtain Employment & Insurance

All nail application skills can be learnt in a relatively short period of time as you learn how to master the needed skills of each treatment. If your long term goal is to become a fully trained nail technician working in a salon or for yourself, it’s recommended you undertake one of our courses to obtain insurance and potential employment. Our nail courses teach all practical and theoretical elements of nail treatments to give you an excellent base skillset and to provide these treatments in your own business. Our courses are fully accredited by the ABT which is well recognised by employers and also essential to have if you wish to offer mobile or home treatments.

The range of courses that is now on the market allows for fully flexible learning, if you would like to refresh or top up skills or are starting from scratch.  All levels are fully accessible no matter what your starting point and provide the opportunity for you to have a successful nail technician career.
